Challenge
Paper-Based EHS System Reducing Efficiency
When Safety Manager Joe Remblance joined in fall 2022, he found a company still using paper for EH&S management despite their reputation for leading-edge masonry solutions. Requirements for any new system included:
- Minimize training time
- Digitize inspections and data collection
- Provide mobile access for field staff
- Track leading/lagging indicators
- Generate insightful reports
“Our guys are constantly in the field, so to bring everyone back in and close down the business for them to do training was just not acceptable,” said Remblance.
Solution
KPA Flex Capabilities Hit on All Cylinders for Re-Create
After evaluating several options, Re-Create chose KPA for its comprehensive features:
- Mobile optimization
- Flexible training solutions
- Resource management
- Equipment inspection
- Customizable reporting and dashboards
Implementation in January 2023 was smooth: “KPA’s representative was amazingly responsive and helpful. And the demo went really well, which made it clean-cut and precise for me to sell this to my VP of Construction, as well the Operations team,” said Remblance.
Result
Significant Time Savings, Seamless Reporting, and Adoption by Other Departments
Key benefits included:
- 60% reduction in training time through Microlearning
- Digital field data capture capability
- Robust executive reporting
- Cross-departmental adoption (HR, Fleet Management)
“Being mobile is fantastic. The safety department can now conduct inspections and capture that data digitally in the field. Our crews in the field can capture forklift and scaffold inspections, and our superintendents can capture safety observations. All of those things are huge for us.”
“We’re still building out programs and processes, including assigning vehicles and tracking equipment,” said Remblance.
“There’s so much the system can do. We’re just touching the surface.”
