Monterey Fuel Company exclusively handles aircraft fueling and ground services at Monterey Regional Airport in California, with 46 employees across 2 locations. For private charter passengers, they provide planeside concierge services, coordinating hotel, ground transportation, catering, and more. Located near the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, they also offer over 200,000 square feet of office and private hangar space. Monterey Jet manages the airport’s more than 40 flights per day and is one of the top fixed-base operators in the country.
Maxx Mauck, a 10-year veteran of Monterey Fuel Company, took on the new Safety Coordinator position and found several challenges. The company needed to:
“Our old system wasn’t even spreadsheets; it was just paper everywhere.”
“If something did happen, it meant going through mountains of binders and banker’s boxes of random slips of paper,” said Mauck. “Sometimes management didn’t know where the binder was between our two locations.”
Aircraft checklists required for each aircraft movement were being filled out intermittently, causing delays in maintenance response to issues like fuel truck leaks.
After receiving a marketing email from KPA, Mauck quickly arranged a demo. “I called and got a demo the next week and immediately decided, we’re doing this,” he said.
“As soon as [management] saw what KPA can do and how customizable it is, it was a snap decision.”
