Diving Into Summer Safety: A Guide to June Safety Observances

Toby Graham

And that, fine folks, was the sound of the last school bell of the academic year! Now’s our chance to feel the warm breeze, binge-watch all the shows we missed, and…ok now we’re a little bored. Luckily for us, June has some of the best safety observances of the year: from National Forklift Day to Safety Month, you won’t want to miss a single celebration.

June Safety Observances

National Safety Month

Ok, this one’s pretty self-explanatory. Every June, we join the National Safety Council in celebrating National Safety Month, with specific focuses each week.

This year, we’ll be honing in on these topics:

  • Week 1: Continuous Improvement
  • Week 2: Employee Engagement
  • Week 3: Roadway Safety
  • Week 4: Wellbeing

Safety Month allows us to review all of our safety best practices. As an employer, we recommend using this month to review best practices with your employees, as well as review the most common incidents you come across and how to fix them.

CPR/AED Awareness Week:

June 1-7, 2024

The first seven days of June are designated as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) awareness week. During this week, we are encouraged to learn about the impacts CPR and AED can have and how many lives could be saved each year if more people knew how to use each of these techniques. You may even consider getting CPR certified this week, as anyone can do it, and training usually only takes up to five hours.

Grab some CPR and AED resources or learn more about CPR certification.

National Forklift Day

June 10, 2025

National Forklift Safety Day aims to spread awareness about the hazards of using a forklift. To celebrate, we recommend reviewing forklift best practices.

You can find an in-depth review of OSHA’s forklift safety standards.

Or, take this forklift safety quiz to test your skills and make sure you don’t have any weak spots.

Build a stronger safety culture month by month. The 2025 Safety Observances Guide is designed to be your comprehensive companion for planning and executing meaningful safety initiatives throughout the year.
